This didn't go as planned...
Let's just say that some of us were lacking motivation and the desire to play music. It wasn't exactly easy considering that I do love playing music but it was also for a good cause. The cause is something I am not going to share with you. AS for upcoming performances, we shall see about those. It's important that I make myself at least ready for them but I'm not sure I can play music for anyone but myself at the moment. As for another performance, this one will be outside of school. Through Airdrie Music Lessons the first Friday of February. The only people invited are the parents, family and friends of all the kids playing that night. As well as my current band teacher for exactly this reason. The only way to be prepared for next time is to practice.

This past week in the Music Academy has been very important.
We learned that while we succeed in the art that is music, we all fail in the art of time management. It's very important that this be changed moving forward. Due to our collective failures, a large percentage of us have not handed in a lot of assignments and we are falling behind. Falling behind us not acceptable here. Nor anywhere else. In order to get ourselves out of this ordeal, we must learn to use our time wisely. That means putting away the phones and turning off the TV's until it is complete. Us, being young humans, have not really realized what we need to do and why it is important. This next following week, I plan on putting on my headphones and actually getting things done. Ignoring the texts, the social media, and the people around me. That way, there will be no distractions. I will have to focus in on my work and attempt to get it done in an orderly fashion. I would use my Google Calendar, but that doesn't help me. So I'll have to find another way to give myself reminders. Time is of the essence. In the beginning... we had a day of presentations. In order for the learning to be beneficial, we must create... a SMART goal.
It was the ultimate goal of the year, paving the way for the rest of this years goals, and to be dramatic, my life. There is so much riding on this goal being specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and can be done in my set time. This is no joking matter. Of course, this goal must be related to music. While my personal goal could be anything I want. The possibilities are endless, yet limited. The time is running out to decide, I've been in school for a month now and I must start taking this seriously. Is the "serious thing" working yet? I have decided... My goal for school is to compose a full band piece by the end of this year. To explain further, I would like to compose for thirty minutes, once a day, once a week. This should be rather easy to find time to do. I mean, I'm a teenager and I spend a lot of time watching Netflix and sitting in my room. My laptop is always close by and by the time the first half of school is complete, I plan on having the rough copy complete. Therefor, I can spend the second half of my year improving it. Perfect, this one is complete. |
